Resource Consents (NZ)

Resource consents are needed when the proposed building does not not meet Local Council By-Laws. Generally, not as much detail is required as for a building consent. Often with Resource Consents, you will need to negotiate with council to find out what can and can't be done on your particular site, as well as obtaining your neighbour's consent. If your neighbours consent can't be obtained and/or you are not able to meet Local Council By-Laws then you have to apply for a notified consent.
